Barkindji/Malyangapa multidisciplinary artist and cultural practitioner
David Doyle is a Barkindji/Malyangapa artist whose multidisciplinary practice is grounded in culture, Country, family and the continuation of cultural knowledge.
Working across sculpture, carving, painting, printmaking and other creative forms, David’s practice brings traditional knowledge and cultural practice into conversation with contemporary materials, processes and ideas.
Much of his work is informed by Barkindji and Malyangapa connections to Country, particularly the landscapes, waterways, plants, animals, stories and cultural practices of Far West NSW. His work explores both continuity and change — recognising culture as something that is not only inherited and remembered, but practised, interpreted and carried forward.
David’s practice extends from individual artworks to major commissions, exhibitions, collaborative cultural projects and community-based work. His work has been recognised through awards, fellowships and exhibitions across Australia and internationally.
At the centre of his practice is a commitment to cultural integrity, storytelling and creating work that connects past, present and future.
